Crisler Library at Ephesos (CLE) was founded by Janet V. Crisler in 1999 to honor her late husband, B. Cobbey Crisler, through archaeology and manuscript preservation in the Near East. It is an American 501(c)(3) organization, with neither religious nor political affiliations. It opened its doors in Selcuk, next to Ephesos, in 2006.
Mission Statement: to promote scholarship, research and education in order to foster a deeper understanding of the ancient history of Asia Minor by providing a library in Ephesus, Turkey.
Governance:
Board of Trustees: A board of trustees, with Janet V. Crisler as Founder and President, governs CLE and meets monthly by conference call.
International Advisory Board: Supports the Board of Trustees with its expertise; membership includes Turks and other individuals with first-hand business experience in Turkey.
